Wild south

Full-day chauffeur-driven private car excursion from Mahé

This tour takes you to some of the most fascinating and historical places in Mahé.

We start with a short guided tour of the tiny capital of Seychelles, Victoria, with its quaint streets and attractive colonial architecture. From ‘Little Ben’, a miniature version of London’s Big Ben, that was installed here in 1903, we continue to Kenwyn House, a restored traditional French colonial house that provides an insight to the way of life on the islands a couple of hundred years ago. Visit Bel Air Cemetery, the first official burial ground to be opened on Mahé soon after the establishment of the French settlement in the late 18th century. The tombs, vaults and shrines contain the remains of some of the islands’ most famous personalities, including the renowned corsair Jean-Francois Hodoul.

En route to Cap Lazare Nature Reserve, we have magnificent views of the island and coast, as well as pausing at Pineapple Studio, a noted workshop producing local arts and crafts. At Cap Lazare, where you can enjoy a traditional Créole lunch, you will see a colony of giant tortoises before taking time to stroll along the splendid beach or perhaps dip into the crystal-clear waters for a refreshing swim.
