Because hotel rating systems vary from one country to another we have introduced our own set of standards. Based on common constants and international comparisons, it ensures that you are able to compare like with like – whether your destination is in the Middle East, Africa, Indian Ocean, Asia, Australasia, Europe or the Americas.

To make your accommodation selection easier, we highlight particular aspects of each property with readily-identifiable symbols.
 | Select: These properties can be found within all ranges and ratings and may have been chosen for their particularly high standards, very special atmosphere, striking architecture and interior design, or the quality of the restaurants. |
 | Family: This highlights hotels or resorts that cater for families with children. Many of these properties have a children’s club with supervised activities, a crèche or playground. |
 | Bonus: This symbol highlights hotels offering value-added benefits, such as additional free nights, early check-in and late check-out. These offers may be seasonal but it is advisable to check at the time of booking for more details. |
 | Sports: Indicates properties with good sports facilities which could include tennis or squash courts, fishing, windsurfing, sailing, water-skiing, snorkelling or other water sports, a golf course and horse riding. |
 | Halal: At hotels that show this logo, halal food is featured daily on the menu in at least one of the restaurants – but it does not indicate that all the food choices offered are halal. |
 | Honeymoon: These hotels and resorts are recommended for their romantic location, ambience and comfort and include special features which would appeal to honeymooners. |
 | Spa: These properties have spa facilities, offering a combination of comfort, hospitality and wellness, managed by professionally trained staff. |
 | Green: This represents hotels and resorts that make a proactive effort to minimise their impact on the environment. These efforts can cover a number of areas, including energy saving measures, water conservation, waste management, recycling, tree-planting, creation of new green areas, protection of endangered flora and fauna, social awareness drives and sustenance of local communities through joint participation initiatives. |
